2025/08/28 Update
Thank you for your continued support of our store.
We would like to inform you about important changes to our shipping services for the United States. These changes are due to new customs rules implemented by the U.S. government and a subsequent review of our shipping methods. If you are a customer in the U.S., please be sure to review the information below.
1. New Tariff Rule Effective August 29
Starting at 12:01 AM on August 29, 2025, the U.S. government will abolish the "de minimis" rule. This change removes the tax exemption that previously applied to packages below a certain value. As a result, all packages shipped from Japan to the United States will be subject to a 15% tariff.
Please be aware that this tariff will be the customer's responsibility. For details on exact duty amounts, we recommend contacting your local delivery service or a licensed customs broker.
2. Change in Shipping Method
Due to the new customs system, Japan Post (which handles services like EMS) has announced a temporary suspension of all mail services to the U.S. starting on August 27, 2025.
To ensure your orders can still be delivered reliably, we have switched all shipments to the U.S. to DHL.
Currently, DHL is operating as usual with no significant issues, so you can use their service with confidence. However, due to the new system, there is a possibility of unexpected customs delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
Regarding Future Orders
With the new tariff rules, please note that you will be required to pay a customs duty upon delivery of your items imported from Japan. We appreciate your understanding of this change before you place an order.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
We understand these changes may cause some inconvenience. We will continue to do our best to provide a smooth shopping and delivery experience, and we thank you for your continued patronage.

2025/4/15 update
1. Introduction
We’re reaching out to update you on important developments regarding import duties between Japan and the United States. Recently, the Trump administration announced a significant change in the import duties on goods from Japan, which may affect your orders. In this post, we’ll explain the details of this change and how it impacts your shopping experience with VintageShop solo.
2. U.S. Import Duty Changes: What You Need to Know
The Trump Administration’s Announcement on 24% Tariff
In recent weeks, the Trump administration announced that it would impose a 24% import duty on goods coming from Japan to the United States. This significant change initially created uncertainty for shoppers and businesses alike.
90-Day Grace Period and Reduced Duty to 10%
However, on April 9, 2025, the U.S. government implemented a 90-day grace period, during which the import duty on goods from Japan will be temporarily reduced to 10%. This adjustment aims to allow both parties time for negotiations while providing some relief to businesses and consumers affected by the higher tariffs.
3. Duty Exemption: De Minimis Rule
How You Can Avoid Duties
Thanks to the De Minimis Rule, if the total value of your order—including both the product price and shipping costs—does not exceed $800, you will not be subject to import duties.
However, it’s important to note that if you place multiple orders from the same brand within the same day, the total value of all those orders combined will be considered. If the total amount exceeds $800, you may incur import duties.
We recommend carefully checking your order total at checkout to ensure you stay within the duty-free limit.
4. Monitoring Ongoing Developments
We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates on any changes in U.S. tariff policies. As the U.S. and Japanese governments work toward resolving this issue, we’ll keep you informed so you can shop with confidence.
At VintageShop solo, we are committed to keeping you up to date with the latest information so that you can continue to enjoy your favorite vintage luxury items without worries.
5. Important Note for International Customers
Confirm Duty Information for Your Country
For customers outside of the United States, please be aware that import duties are specific to each country. We encourage all our international customers to check the official customs websites for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding import duties and taxes in your respective countries.
Please note that any customs duties and taxes will be the responsibility of the customer.
